Le "Grotte della Urfa" o "Grotte della Gulfa" sono cavità scavate nella roccia arenaria le quali, nate come tomba regale, hanno subito, nel tempo rimaneggiamenti e cambi di destinazione d'uso. L'autore ha sempre avuto un'attenzione particolare verso questo monumento, con la consapevolezza che si tratti di un unicum storico non adeguatamente studiato e valorizzato. Per inquadrarne il contesto storico ha effettuato ricerche, non solo in siti, ma anche nel territorio circostante; il risultato ha permesso di formulare ipotesi innovative, confortate da contestualizzazioni e ritrovamenti, che meritano ulteriori approfondimenti.
